The Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) is working on a new initiative to further the triumph of women in world cinema. And as part of this, they organized the ‘Women in Cinema’ gala event.

Famous actresses and directors appeared on the red carpet at the Jeddah Yacht Club for the special evening. Among the numerous talked-about faces were Eva Longoria, Michelle Yeoh, Emily Blunt and many other international stars.

Eva Longoria wore a stunning gown from Elie Saab’s ‘Fall 2024’ couture collection, which was styled with the help of her stylist Maeve Reilly. The design of the gown was completely different where the bodice part was decorated with black gems and it gradually transformed into purple. The gown was embellished with feathers in shades of light purple and lavender. Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh wore a sleeveless gown by Schiaparelli made of gray crushed velvet. The design of the gown featured the signature keyhole motif that gave the entire gown a classy and Everest-like feel. She accessorized with a large statement necklace. Michelle Yeoh showed how even a simple outfit can reach the pinnacle of high fashion.

Cynthia Erivo wore a green gown as a nod to her character in ‘Wicked’. The gown was made of a mix of different color patterns, with red, purple, and white floral designs. The gown was highly detailed and artistically designed.

The gala event was hosted by Jomana Al-Rashid, the chairwoman of the Red Sea Film Foundation. She presented special honors to seven female directors. They are Denise Fernandes (Hanami), Kurdwin Ayub (Moon), Maram Taibah (Malika), Rima Katgi (Superboys of Malagaon), Roya Sadat (Simgar Gan), Takgrid Abolhassan (Snow White), and Xiaoxuan Zhiyang (To Kill a Mongolian Horse).

The Red Sea Film Foundation is working with a special vision to ensure a stronger and more important role for women in the film industry. Their aim is to open up new horizons for women through this film festival, and to support women’s creativity, initiative, and leadership.

The event is also an important step in establishing women as strong voices in the global film industry. This is a great achievement for the Red Sea Film Foundation, which inspires women to be part of the ongoing film revolution.
