Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, said that the spirit of the Palestinian people is indomitable. Despite facing injustice and falsehood, they continue to struggle on the path of truth and justice.
Expressing optimism, she said, We hope that in the near future we will see a Palestine where people will no longer be imprisoned.
She made these remarks this evening while delivering her speech at a classical music event held at the historic Lalbagh Fort in Dhaka, organized to celebrate the 163rd birth anniversary of Ustad Allauddin Khan.
The Adviser further stated that movements for the environment, children’s rights, or women’s rights are all rooted in the same universal human values. She highlighted the example of young Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who has joined the struggle for Palestinian freedom. Rizwana Hasan added that whenever an environmental activist is arrested, waves of protests arise worldwide. “All aggression will one day be defeated, and the indomitable people of Palestine will surely be free. We must all stand by them and contribute to their liberation from our respective positions,” she said.
Adviser to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works and the Ministry of Industries, Adilur Rahman Khan, and Adviser to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, also addressed the event, expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine.
The program was conducted by Ekushey Padak-winning cultural personality, actor, and director Afzal Hossain. Diplomats, artists, and cultural enthusiasts were present at the occasion.
